There are encounters that remain within us even after everyone else has left. The hugs, the conversations, the taste of the food, and the joy of seeing someone again whom life had taken far away remain. It was with this feeling that the Brazilian community of Colorado Springs experienced a weekend marked by culture, friendship, and solidarity.

Among the participants were people who hadn't seen each other in years. The reunion offered an opportunity to reconnect with family, reminisce about moments, and realize that some bonds withstand time and distance. For those who build their lives far from Brazil, reconnecting with these people also means reclaiming a piece of their own history.

The event featured the participation of Ricardo Santos, CEO and Founder of Brazuca News USA, who highlighted the importance of the celebration. According to him, it had been a long time since he had witnessed such a large and symbolic gathering in the Brazilian community of Colorado Springs, bringing together so many people in an atmosphere of friendship, respect, and solidarity.

The celebration welcomed people from various parts of Colorado, including Denver, Fort Collins, Pueblo, and Castle Rock, who joined the local community to share Brazilian culture, reconnect with friends, and build new connections.

For Ricardo, one of the most special moments was reuniting with his longtime friend, Edilene da Cruz, whom he hadn't seen in years. The opportunity to be together again gave an even more personal meaning to the celebration.

“It was so good to see Edilene again, a friend of many years. Life's circumstances meant we spent so much time apart, and being able to see her again was very special. That's precisely the point of a meeting like this: to bring people closer, to ease the longing, and to reconnect with those who are part of our history,” shared Ricardo.

The celebration welcomed people from various parts of Colorado, including Denver, Fort Collins, Pueblo, and Castle Rock, who joined the local community to share this special moment. The presence of families from different cities showed how the bonds of friendship and affection for Brazilian culture transcend distances, creating opportunities to reunite with friends and build new connections.

This unity was present in every contribution. Everyone helped with some type of food: some brought meat, others brought typical Brazilian dishes and different side dishes. The shared table was built by the hands of many people, each offering what they could to be part of the celebration.

At the helm of the kitchen was Angélica Harrison, president of Amigas Brazuca, responsible for preparing the group's food. Her work combined care, dedication, and the responsibility of feeding a community in celebration.

Sandra's husband, Erik Abrahamson, also played a special role, taking charge of the barbecue, which received praise from those present. While Sandra focused on the organization, he helped out at the grill. Their involvement helped make another welcoming gathering for Brazilian families possible.

 

 

Solidarity also came through local businesses. Larissa, owner of Brazil Market, donated two women's beauty kits to the event. This contribution deserves recognition and shows how entrepreneurs can participate in community life, supporting initiatives that bring people together and empower them.

Community bingo was another highlight of the gathering. The activity brought the public together for a moment of shared fun and was very well received by the Brazilians and the American and Latino guests present, who loved the bingo prizes.

Among the most significant moments was the tribute to Sandra Abrahamson, vice-president of Amigas Brazuca, who received a certificate in recognition of her 18 years of service to the Brazilian community.

The event brought visibility to a journey built on presence and a willingness to help. Organizing gatherings over so many years requires persistence, time, and a level of care that doesn't always show in photographs. There's work done before the guests arrive and after they leave, in addition to the responsibility of creating an environment where people feel welcome.

That day, however, the meaning of Sandra's dedication also became apparent in a personal story.

The gathering marked the farewell of Ivan and his family, who are moving to Florida. The occasion brought together tears and happiness: the emotion of leaving loved ones and the joy of the paths that open up in a new chapter.

During the farewell, Ivan recounted how Sandra helped him when he needed it most, even providing basic necessities during difficult times. His testimony added a profound dimension to the tribute. The 18 years recognized on the certificate also represent acts of solidarity that will remain in the memory of those who received them.

When someone is going through a difficult time, help with the essentials can mean immediate relief and the certainty of knowing there is someone to count on. Ivan's story showed how this care can mark a life's journey and create a gratitude that accompanies the family even when they move on to another place.

The farewell was, therefore, an opportunity to acknowledge what they had experienced together. The move to Florida alters the closeness of their daily lives, but the history built in Colorado Springs will continue to be a part of Ivan's life and that of his family.

Among these connections was entrepreneur Renata Bosco, who is preparing to open her daycare, a nursery scheduled to open in October 2026, bringing another childcare option to families in the city.

According to Rebeca, the space will be inaugurated with qualified and prepared professionals, in addition to having all the required documentation up to date, with attention to the welcoming, comfort, and safety of the children. The proposal is to especially support mothers who need to leave their children in the care of other people while they work to provide for their families.

For these mothers, finding a suitable place for their children is a decision that involves trust and peace of mind. Being able to work knowing that the children are being well cared for makes a difference in the routine and organization of the whole family. It is this need that Rebeca's project aims to address, bringing her path as an entrepreneur closer to an important demand of the community.

Stories like this show how the relationships built during the meeting can continue to produce results after the event. Getting to know entrepreneurs in the region, understanding their work, and finding common interests are important steps in strengthening the support and business network of the Brazilian community.

In the final stage of the meeting, Angélica Harrison and Sandra presented the pre-launch of Amigas Brazuca, announcing a new phase of women's mobilization. According to the organization, the group already brings together 983 women from the community.

The program “Women Helping Women," presented by Brazuca News USA and Amigas Brazuca, brings a message of support and participation: women are strong and need to know that they can count on each other.

The goal is to develop a space for exchanging experiences, mutual support, and creating opportunities. A place where it's possible to share knowledge, find guidance and companionship, discuss needs, and contribute to the journey of other women.

The project's commitment is to be made for women and built with women, listening to their experiences and recognizing their participation in decisions and community development.

Behind the 983 members are different stories, with their own responsibilities, dreams, and challenges. Valuing this diversity means understanding that each woman has something to offer and may also need support at some point.

With Angélica as president and Sandra as vice-president, the presentation of Amigas Brazuca took place in an environment that already demonstrated this willingness to care. The collaboration was evident in the kitchen, in the organization, in the food brought by the families, in Larissa's donation, and in Ivan's words of gratitude.

The atmosphere of respect and unity was one of the hallmarks of the weekend. Brazilians, Americans, and Latinos shared food, the fun of bingo, and the opportunity to get to know each other better. It's gratifying to see a community bring together so many stories and transform that shared experience into friendship and concrete support.
